The hard rocking Cro-Magnons are the next chapter in the story of Hiroto Kōmoto and Masatoshi Mashima, previously of The Blue Hearts and The High-Lows.  Also in the group are bassist Masaru Kobayashi and drummer Katsuji Kirita, both official members.  The band got together in 2006 after The High-Lows called it quits in November 2005.  Originally just Mashima and Komoto, the two were introduced to Kobayashi and Kirita through recording engineer Satoshi Kawaguchi, who the pair had known since they were in The Blue Hearts. With their first album already slated for release late in 2006, the band hit the road that summer to spread the word, at that point without a name or a formally announced tour.  The word soon got out, and rabid fans of The Blue Hearts and The High-Lows across the country turned out to see the punk legends in their newest incarnation.  On July 23, The Cro-Magnons made their first official appearance as a band. Two months later, on September 20, the band began their first formal nationwide tour. In October, The Cro-Magnons released their eponymous first album, and headed out on the road again in early 2007, playing 16 dates nationwide.  The band releaesed Cave Party in September 2007, and Fire Age in October 2008, keeping the straight ahead punk-influenced style of The Blue Hearts and The High-Lows alive.
